We understand that you risk both your physical and mental health for us. NYU Langone Medical Center researchers discovered that those suffering from PTSD have much lower levels of the anandamide than the general population. What is anandamide? It’s an endocannabinoid that activates your endocannabinoid system, without it the system cannot run effectively. How does CBD come into play here? CBD is a phytocannabinoid that is able to stimulate the receptors of your endocannabinoid system if there aren’t enough endocannabinoids (anandamide) that your body is producing. The endocannabinoid system is centrally enmeshed in stress regulation. We suspect that those with PTSD have low anandamide levels due to the stress on the body from physical and mental traumas, depleting the stash. If there aren’t enough endocannabinoids to control stress, havoc is wreaked on the body.
Many pharmaceuticals and substances work as bandaids to the wounds that come home with our soldiers. We want long-term solutions instead of bandaids. We want our men and women to heal and we believe that CBD can play a big role in this process. The endocannabinoid system is responsible for regulating inflammation throughout the body, and creating healthy sleep cycles, and memory consolidation and retrieval (PTSD = formed by memory avoidance). CBD can help a deficient endocannabinoid system function once again, so that our bodies can sleep through the night (no nightmares), consolidate our memories properly, and heal.
