It’s true! I may not be a primate, but all mammals have endocannabinoid systems. The endocannabinoid system
(ECS) has been around longer than the mammalian body!
UCLA Health reports:

“Taxonomic investigation revealed that the endocannabinoid system is incredibly old, havingevolved over 500 million years ago. Moreover, it is present in all vertebrates—mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, etc., all produce endocannabinoids!”

This means that cats, horses, and dogs (like me) have CB receptors, endogenous cannabinoids, and the whole lot!
The only thing to remember is that my ECS and the way my body metabolizes cannabinoids are a bit different
than yours, so please be careful with me!

WHAT CAN CBD DO FOR PETS?

It may help with essentially all of the things that it helps the human body with! The endocannabinoid
system influences the body’s inflammation, nausea, GI tract, nervous system, stress pathways, immune system,
cardiovascular system, pain perception, metabolism, and disease-prevention mechanisms!

“I DON’T WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE!”

All I do is cry when I am not with my Botanicam family. The typical pharmaceutical route is to sedate—that is not what we want to do with CBD! It should be used sparingly on us! Besides, just as with humans, smaller doses work better for occasional anxiety than larger doses do!

TRAINING NEW BEHAVIOR?

Supplementing with hemp is a great tool in training new behavior and probably does not need to be used consistently. It may help us doggos relax into a new way of doing things without so much resistance. It can be so hard to follow rules and unlearn bad habits, which I think all of you humans understand!

“I’M IN PAIN!”

Just like a human’s body will hurt, my body will too, especially with age. Luckily, even though I can’t really speak up, Cornell University just published a study where they used CBD for dog pain!

The results illustrated:

2mg/kg [ OR 1mg/lb ] of CBD 2x per day =
significantly increased comfort (less pain)
and increased activity in dogs!

THC?

The way that the cannabinoid CBD works with an animal body (such as a dog’s) is comparable to the way
it works with a human body. CBD activates CB2 receptors, which pets have plenty of! The cannabinoid THC is a
different story, though, and it is very important to be very careful. Your pet’s ECS is distinctly different from the
human ECS in this one very important way: while humans have many CB1 receptors in their brains, pets have
very, very few CB1 receptors in their brains. THC works on those CB1 receptors—this is why THC can be very
scary for dogs if too much THC is consumed. So PLEASE keep away with your cannabis joints, your chocolates,
gummies, and whatnot! Let’s stick to CBD from HEMP over here! *It is important to note that a trace amount of
THC actually enhances the product and the content of THC from the hemp plant is so low that it will not
negatively affect the dog brain.*

There are some cases in which pet parents w ill turn to THC— for unmanageable pain and/or terminal
issues, but this must be done with a vet who specializes in that sort of thing. THC can be a powerful asset to a
wholly medicinal plant. It is normal to start at a very low dose (20:1 CBD:THC).

TALK TO A VET!!!

Not all dogs will respond to the CBD. Some of us respond beautifully to low doses, while some won’t respond at all! Therapeutic levels of CBD are very different for us than for humans, so we must “start low and go slow.” CBD is metabolized by the P54 enzyme of the liver, which is where 60% of pet pharmaceuticals are metabolized—this can lead to the pharmaceutical medication staying in a dog’s body for longer than expected, so monitoring us is KEY! CBD really does work, which is why talking to a vet who has knowledge about CBD is recommended whether you are sure about CBD or not. Utilizing CBD therapy may depend on whether or not a dog is on these meds, or it may mean starting at a low dose and monitoring how the meds and the CBD interact.

FOR EXTERNAL WOUNDS: Licking off the salve?

Even if your pet does, it doesn’t matter. In the case of external wound treatment, healing is stimulated in just a few seconds—don’t let them lick it off for at least a couple of seconds!

DOSING?

To be split between AM & PM. Immediate behavioral effects will last around 4 hours, but the health benefits are lasting.

WHY PETABIS ORGANICS?

Botanicam did a lot of investigative work to find a quality CBD brand made specifically for pets. Sadly, many of the pet brands on the market are releasing products far, far below the standards that they should be meeting. CBD companies try to get away with so many horrible things and this is especially true with dog products!

Petabis products have been formulated with 50 years of veterinarian and herbalist expertise. Along with CBD, their products contain adaptogens. These train the body how to deal with stressors. Having a body that is equipped to deal with immune stressors might mean that the body can run an interface against healthy cells mutating needlessly. Obviously, hemp and adaptogens make a perfect combination for reducing physical and/or mental stress!

KEEPING YOUR BEST FRIEND HEALTHY AND HAPPY.

I know how much Botanicam loves us pets, I’m part of the fam! Botanicam even goes the extra mile by randomly testing every manufacturer (including Petabis) to be 100% sure that I am getting all of the cannabinoids necessary to provide my body with the utmost vitality, no toxins included!
